Community Health Extension Worker
Structure of the Programme
The Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) is a senior cadre of the health team for primary health care. He has the responsibility of supervising the Junior Community Health Extension Workers. This Diploma Programme last for three (3) calendar years.
Entry Requirement
Five (5) passes in WAEC, NECO, or GCE obtained in ot more than two sittings. Three of these must be in Biology, English and Mathematics. The other two (2) credits could be any of the basic or social science subjects ( Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition, Agric Science, Geography, Accounts, Economics Commerce etc. Teachers Grade 11 and NABTEB certificates are not recognized.
Junior Community Health Extension Workers
Structure of the programme:
The Junior Community Health Extension Worker (JCHEW) is a junior cadre of the health team for primary health care. He has the responsibility of supervising the Voluntary Village Health Workers (VVWH) and Traditional Birth Attendant (TBAs). The Certificate programme lasts for two (2) years.
Entry Requirement
Five (5) passes in WASSCE, NECO or GCE only obtained in not more than two sittings, three of which must be in Biology, English and Mathematics. The other two (2) passes could be in any of the basic or social science subjects ( Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Agric Science, Health Science, Accounts, Economics, Commerce etc.
